About the Role

This position serves as the Lead Direct Support Manager for the residential areas of a DDSN Regional Center. The successful candidate will ensure regulatory compliance of an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) as it pertains to the care and safety of individuals with disabilities, and also ensure that active treatment is provided for consumers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop subordinate DSM/DSP III leadership and supervisory skills to enable effective training, supervision, and retention.
  • Provide initial and ongoing on-the-job training to new DSM's, including but not limited to regulatory compliance, the interdisciplinary team process, communication with families and other service providers, and the active treatment programs.
  • Proactively engage employees to build relationships that create trust, open dialogue, and establish clear responsibilities.
  • Monitor staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage needs to support consumer needs.
  • Complete monthly monitoring of Individual Support Plan trainings for staff, and provide training as needed.
  • Review the Direct Support Professional staff's work performance and contribute to annual performance evaluations.
  • Ensure that each individual receives services and interventions necessary to meet identified needs in accordance with active treatment standards on a daily basis.
  • Provide thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of services provided.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with SCDDSN written rules, regulations and policies.
  • Ensure that programs/training are amended based on progress or newly identified needs/concerns.
  • Maintain continuous communication with guardians and advocates regarding significant events including injuries/incidents, training, and health of the individuals with disabilities.
  • Monitor consistency among external/internal programs and disciplines to ensure that any discrepancies or inconsistencies between programmatic, medical, dietary, and vocational aspects of consumer's assessments and programs are resolved.
  • Cover caseload(s) when a Direct Support Manager vacancy occurs as requested by the Residential Administrator.
  • Promote a safe, orderly, neat, clean environment for consumers.
  • Report significant events and suspected abuse immediately per SCDDSN policy and procedures.
