Job Title: Direct Support Professional II

Join the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs as a Direct Support Professional II and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and related disabilities.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and related disabilities in our Autism Community Training Homes. As a Direct Support Professional II, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of each consumer, following prescribed behavior support plans, and providing individualized support to promote independence and community inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and related disabilities in our Autism Community Training Homes
  • Ensure the health and safety of each consumer, following prescribed behavior support plans
  • Provide individualized support to promote independence and community inclusion
  • Transport and monitor consumers to and from off-campus appointments, programs, and activities
  • Participate in training and provide guidance to consumers in the development of activities of daily living skills
  • Complete timely and accurate data collection and/or assessments, maintaining documentation in compliance with SCDDSN policy and procedures
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or special needs
  • Valid SC Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Therap and SCEIS Central for time and leave purposes
