Position Overview:
The Kentucky Personnel Cabinet is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Staff Attorney III. This position is integral to providing comprehensive legal support to various agencies within the Cabinet, focusing on complex and specialized legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing intricate legal issues related to compliance with Wage and Hour and Occupational Safety & Health regulations.
  • Conducting thorough original research to draft legal documents and pleadings.
  • Representing the Cabinet in administrative hearings and various court proceedings with minimal supervision.
  • Analyzing cases involving violations of Kentucky's labor laws, conducting investigations, and providing legal recommendations.
  • Mentoring junior attorneys and collaborating on multifaceted legal cases.
  • Reviewing requests for information under the Kentucky Open Records Act and ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Evaluating Cabinet policies for legal compliance and suggesting necessary amendments.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a minimum of two years of experience as a licensed attorney. A Master of Laws degree may substitute for one year of required experience. Candidates must be in good standing with the Kentucky Bar Association and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications throughout their employment.

Work Environment:
This role involves a combination of office and courtroom settings, with occasional travel required.
