Job Title: School Registered Nurse

At Aveanna Healthcare, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Registered Nurse to join our team. As a School Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing direct school nursing services to promote prevention, medical management, and academics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide school nursing services to direct service school districts
  • Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of students to make a nursing diagnosis and establish a priority for action
  • Interpret the health and developmental status of students to school personnel, parents, and the student as appropriate
  • Develop and implement health education programs in collaboration with faculty members
  • Provide parent education related to student needs
  • Participate in the development of Health Plans and attend school conferences as needed
  • Provide care, delegate, and teach care to others under the established plan of care while following the direction of a physician, nursing supervisor, school designee, and/or parent
  • Attend continuing education programs as per licensure requirements and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered
  • Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting students' rights and overall well-being
  • Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and well-being of students in the school health setting
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pediatrics experience
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity
  • Must have a strong sense of smell and touch
  • Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
  • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport
Environment:
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
