Aveanna Healthcare is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to provide school nursing services in an effort to promote prevention, medical management, and academics.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct school nursing services to students in an effort to promote health and wellness.
- Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of students to make informed nursing diagnoses and establish priorities for action.
- Interpret health and developmental status to school personnel, parents, and students as appropriate.
- Serve as a health resource person in the health instruction curriculum and take leadership in planning and implementing health education programs.
- Provide parent education related to student needs and participate in the development of Health Plans.
- Attend continuing education programs as per licensure requirements and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered.
- Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting students' rights and overall well-being.
- Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and well-being of students in the school health setting.
- Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse, or neglect.
- Provide a clean and safe environment within the school, including the safe use of equipment.
- Maintain and coordinate standards of nursing while managing a comprehensive school health program.
- Provide preventive and rehabilitative measures while assisting/providing nursing assessments and screenings in an effort to promote safety and health for all.
- Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence.
- Administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent.
- Provide individual teaching and training with students and/or others in an effort to encourage and promote student independence when applicable.
- Collaborate, coordinate, and supervise services with others in order to promote academics and individualized student needs.
- Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures on the day the services are rendered.
- Submit nursing documentation, logs, reports, and timesheets within a timely manner and per policy.
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
- Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures.
- Pediatrics experience.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must be able to travel.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
- Must be able to sit and climb stairs.
- Must have visual and hearing acuity.
- Must have a strong sense of smell and touch.
- Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
- Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport.
- Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions.
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
