Position Overview:
Nemours is in search of a Practical Nursing Specialist for our Ambulatory care center.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance and supervision of a licensed authority, the Practical Nursing Specialist plays a vital role in the nursing process by executing tasks that align with case identification, health education, and both supportive and restorative care.

The specialist is responsible for collecting patient information and conducting follow-up evaluations utilizing the nursing process.

Core Duties:
  • Collect patient information and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop a care plan.
  • Deliver care that adheres to professional standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Administer medications and vaccines safely as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Assist the provider with procedures within the scope of the Practical Nursing Specialist's license.
  • Conduct point-of-care testing.
  • Provide care that is appropriate for the age and developmental stage of both primary and specialty care patients.
  • Perform and document patient intake, including but not limited to: height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing assessments, reason for visit, and medication reconciliation.
  • Engage in departmental and organization-wide quality improvement initiatives.
  • Screen patient and family inquiries, gather relevant information, and escalate or refer as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Active licensure as a Practical Nurse in the state of Delaware.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized organization.
