POSITION SUMMARY
Oversees the planning, procurement, training, and scheduling of custodial activities throughout the organization. This role is responsible for assigning and executing custodial tasks essential for the maintenance of municipal buildings, functioning as a working lead. Provides guidance and training to custodial personnel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are representative of the work performed but are not exhaustive. They may be adjusted as necessary.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Reviews daily operational activities and contributes to formal performance evaluations.
- Maintains records of work and trains custodians on the use of floor and carpet cleaning machinery.
- Assists in creating work schedules for the custodial team in the absence of the Facilities Custodial Supervisor.
- Conducts inspections of buildings to ensure cleanliness, identify safety hazards, and assess maintenance needs.
- Coordinates the repair of hazardous conditions in municipal buildings with the supervisor.
- Operates various cleaning equipment including floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and carpet extractors.
- Aids in the dissemination of policies and procedures to staff.
- Performs general cleaning duties required for the upkeep of municipal buildings, such as stripping and waxing floors, carpet maintenance, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing furniture.
- Disinfects and sanitizes high-touch surfaces (e.g., handrails, light switches, doorknobs).
- Empties waste receptacles and collects debris.
- Dusts ventilation grills throughout facilities.
- Cleans glass surfaces, including windows and desktops.
- Conducts tile maintenance, including stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing.
- Responsible for the upkeep of custodial equipment and reporting any excessive repair needs to the supervisor.
- Cleans and sanitizes locker rooms, including showers and restroom areas.
- Replenishes soap and paper supplies as necessary.
- Coordinates and assists with the setup of City facilities for meetings, including brewing coffee and providing necessary supplies.
- Ensures building security by verifying that all doors are locked and the premises are clear each night through visual inspections.
- Notifies the supervisor of any lighting or locking issues that require attention.

Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Responds to requests for moving furniture or replacing light bulbs.
- Clears snow and applies ice melt to City walkways.
- Maintains documented inventory tracking.
- Assists the supervisor with updating Safety Data Sheets.
- Performs other assigned duties as necessary.

PREPARATION AND TRAINING
Education: High School diploma or GED

Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years in custodial maintenance; at least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.

Certifications and/or Licensures:
None
Required Driver's License: Valid Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with custodial maintenance and floor care practices.
- Proper handling of cleaning chemicals and Safety Data Sheets.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of maintenance procedures.

Skills and Abilities:
- Basic computer skills for operating security systems.
- Strong communication skills for directing staff.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Basic mechanical skills for operating cleaning machines and performing minor repairs.
- Strong project management skills for scheduling custodial operations and overseeing personnel.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is primarily conducted indoors within City facilities, with occasional outdoor tasks. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and various cleaning chemicals is expected. The role involves working in varying conditions, including wet, hot, and cold environments.

HOURLY RATE $29.62/hour, based on qualifications and experience.
