CNC Machinist Job Description

Murray Resources is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC machinery to run first article parts and/or to proof new programs, ensuring quality product throughout the production run.
  • Work on new product programs, including ensuring production readiness for new launches.
  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements.
  • Identify, produce, and gauge a variety of straight and taper threads.
  • Measure, mark, and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Select, align, and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust the machine controls or control media as necessary.
  • Verify conformance of finished part to ensure that it meets specifications.
  • Confer with production personnel, engineers, or others to resolve machining or assembly issues.
  • Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
Requirements:
  • 1 year certificate from college or technical school or minimum of five years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to work under a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to machining of inflatable packers or related downhole tools.
  • Must have own tools adequate to perform job.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write and/or complete routine reports.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
