Role Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, and upkeep of facilities and machinery related to production equipment. This role involves organizing and supervising maintenance operations within the production environment. The Maintenance Supervisor also provides technical support to department heads and Maintenance Managers, ensuring that Maintenance Technicians adhere to all safety and maintenance protocols while executing their tasks. Success in this role hinges on reliability, attention to detail, and strong technical skills across various trades, including electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry. Leadership capabilities are essential for effective delegation and management of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise shift maintenance personnel, including task assignments, coaching, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Audit completed work orders for accuracy and assist maintenance technicians in generating work orders for identified repair needs or special projects.
  • Manage external contractors engaged in maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with the Planner/Scheduler to establish weekly maintenance schedules and oversee monthly and annual shutdown plans.
  • Execute reactive maintenance tasks and manage the maintenance schedule, stepping in for hands-on work only when necessary for training or coverage.
  • Oversee the procurement of parts and supplies needed for urgent maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Background in mechanical or electrical fields, with technical school training preferred.
  • Proficient in identifying issues and determining appropriate actions.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in maintenance supervision.
  • Strong leadership and planning skills.
  • Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems for procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
