Michigan Milk Producers Association is actively looking for a Facility Maintenance Lead to manage our maintenance operations. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for supervising all repair and maintenance activities, ensuring optimal safety standards and high equipment availability. The Facility Maintenance Lead will guide a team of proficient maintenance technicians, offering support and expertise in troubleshooting plant machinery and equipment, including PLCs, VFDs, Servos, and HMIs. This is a hands-on position that requires direct participation in repairs and installations, as well as effective collaboration with the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the maintenance team
  • Provide direction and support for maintenance technicians' assignments
  • Collaborate with the maintenance manager on planning and scheduling
  • Conduct audits to ensure quality workmanship by the maintenance team
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate maintenance activities with operations
  • Assess technician qualifications and recommend training as necessary
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies
  • Identify and implement corrective actions for maintenance issues
  • Supervise technicians' schedules and timekeeping
  • Lead the preventative maintenance program for various manufacturing equipment
  • Minimize equipment downtime through proactive maintenance strategies
  • Assist with capital improvement projects throughout the facility
  • Oversee the installation and electrical setup of new or relocated machinery
  • Supervise and assist with mechanical repairs across the facility

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose equipment issues and identify root causes
  • Project management capabilities and technical reading proficiency
  • Effective supervision and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, charts)
  • Knowledge of PLCs and both digital and analog sensors
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Familiarity with servo motors, encoders, pumps, gearboxes, steam, and ammonia systems

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • At least 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Experience in blow molding, ammonia, and boiler systems is advantageous
  • Familiarity with union environments and food facility operations is a plus
