Patient Transporter Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Patient Transporter to join our team at Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS). As a Patient Transporter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients throughout our campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher to various departments and areas of the hospital
- Assist in the transport of critical care patients in conjunction with clinical staff
- Maintain a positive working relationship with hospital staff, nurses, and physicians to facilitate effective communication
- Identify ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction, making recommendations to supervisors and implementing changes as needed
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in customer service and integrate knowledge into current work practices
Requirements:
- Prefer 6 months of experience in healthcare and/or customer service
- Must have current CPR-Heartsaver course completion card within 90 days of hire
- Must be able to read and write, exhibit strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate caring, service-oriented behaviors
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions, communicate effectively with patients and staff, and complete a Preventative Back Injury & Proper Lift Technique class within 90 days of hire
Working Environment:
The Patient Transporter will work primarily indoors, with occasional exposure to mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, and infectious disease exposure. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude in the face of challenging situations.
