Job Summary:

The State of Oregon is seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Instructor for the Blind to join our team. As a key member of our Independent Living Department, you will play a vital role in helping seniors and individuals with vision loss acquire essential adaptive skills to remain independent in their homes and active in their communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide in-home services to clients, tailoring lessons to their specific needs and abilities.
  • Support other programs, approximately 10% of the month, to ensure a comprehensive approach to client care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective rehabilitation plans.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse populations, including seniors, adults, and transition-aged youth with multiple barriers to independent living.
  • Manage client cases, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree with an emphasis in a vision-related field from an accredited university, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent time management, and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with seniors, adults, and transition-aged youth with vision loss, and a commitment to promoting independence and community participation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Case management experience, with a focus on rehabilitation and independent living.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Credential, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility, Low Vision Therapy, or Vision Rehabilitation Therapy.
  • Experience working in a rehabilitation or independent living setting, with a focus on vision-related services.
