Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Instructor for the Blind to join our team at the State of Oregon. As a key member of our Independent Living Department, you will play a vital role in helping seniors and individuals with vision loss acquire essential adaptive skills to remain independent in their homes and active in their communities.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a vision-related field or a related field with two years of experience. Preference will be given to those with a Credential, Bachelor, or Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility, or Low Vision Therapist or Vision Rehabilitation Therapist.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational skills, strong time management skills, and a commitment to attending to detail. They will also have experience working with seniors, adults, and transition-aged youth who experience multiple barriers to independent living.

The Rehabilitation Instructor for the Blind will report to the Director of Independent Living of the Oregon Commission for the Blind and will be responsible for providing in-home services to clients. The core program this position serves is the Older Individuals who are Blind (OIB) population.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative teammate with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. They will also have outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
