Job Summary:

A Speech Language Pathologist will evaluate and treat residents/patients with temporary or long-term speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with other rehab therapists and nursing staff in a supportive team-working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Screens and evaluates patients/residents and develops appropriate care plans.
Provides direct patient/resident treatment based on established plans of care under a physician's direction.
Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems.
Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
Instructs residents/patients, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.
Completes required forms and clinical records in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
Documents in patient records in an accurate and timely manner.
Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.
Provides comprehensive and compassionate therapy services in a sub-acute/skilled nursing facility setting.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
Current license in Speech Language Therapy as required by state law.
Valid CPR certification required.
Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.
