Rehabilitation Instructor for the Visually Impaired

As a Rehabilitation Instructor for the Blind, you will play a vital role in helping seniors and individuals with vision loss acquire essential adaptive skills to remain independent in their homes and active in their communities.
This position is part of the Independent Living Department, working closely with the Director of Independent Living of the Oregon Commission for the Blind. You will provide in-home services, tailoring your approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
The core program you will serve is the Older Individuals who are Blind (OIB) population. You will work approximately 10% of your time supporting other programs.
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Master's degree with an emphasis in any vision-related field from an accredited university, or
- Bachelor's degree or certification with an emphasis in any vision-related field from an accredited university, or
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a Social or Behavioral Science, and two years of experience, or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preference will be given to those with a Credential, Bachelor, or Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility, or Low Vision Therapist or Vision Rehabilitation Therapist.
Desired attributes include:
- Excellent organizational skills, strong time management skills, and commitment to attending to detail.
- Demonstrated experience working with seniors, adults, and transition-aged youth who experience multiple barriers to independent living.
- Collaborative teammate with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Case Management experience.
