Become a vital member of our diverse team of innovators as we write new chapters in the story of space exploration. This position is integral to the Lunar Permanence division, which is responsible for the advancement of our various Blue Moon lander product lines.

To support Blue Origin's vision of a future where millions can live and work in space, we are establishing sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a dedicated team of engineers, you will collaborate with cybersecurity specialists and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure adherence to standards and establish processes for necessary cyber compliance. You will also contribute to defining the requirements for the next human-rated lunar lander.

Software plays a crucial role in the development of space vehicles, making your ability to effectively collaborate with other teams essential in this role. You will also be responsible for shaping the long-term vision and strategy for products that will support lunar missions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure compliance with all relevant security standards.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to team members on CI/CD best practices from a security standpoint.
  • Set objectives and goals for the team regarding project impact, product quality, and engineering efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze data to troubleshoot and enhance pipeline performance.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the safety-critical software development process and identify ways to enhance security while maintaining efficiency through tooling.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. or higher degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working towards CMMC certification.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining NIST controls.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines that consistently deliver high-quality results.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
  • Experience in enhancing stability through monitoring, analysis, thoughtful code reviews, and detailed feedback.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong understanding of source control tools and concepts, including git workflows, versioning, and branching.
  • Proven ability to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Linux, Docker, Continuous Integration, and Delivery.
  • Familiarity with scripted and compiled languages such as Python and C/C++.
  • Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
  • Proficiency in using configuration as code tools to manage cloud resources and physical workstations (e.g., Ansible, Vagrant, Terraform, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Aerospace industry experience with safety-critical software and/or tools qualification activities.
  • Familiarity with NPR 7150.2D.
