Position Overview: As a Junior Manufacturing Engineer focusing on Rocket Engine Assembly (Second Shift), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space travel. Your work will directly influence the legacy of space exploration, demanding your dedication and meticulous attention to detail to ensure safe and reliable spaceflight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive manufacturing work instructions that delineate processes such as receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, testing, integration, and refurbishment.
- Oversee cost management, quality assurance, build sequence, and scheduling of hardware throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
- Conduct thorough reviews of engineering drawings and grant final approvals for manufacturing processes.
- Establish process control measures and evaluations utilizing statistical analysis.
- Support repair and rework initiatives effectively.
- Design, procure, install, and integrate specialized manufacturing equipment.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of hardware and equipment.
- Perform capacity analyses for manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Execute root cause analyses for non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Design appropriate material handling and packaging solutions to safeguard hardware during the build and testing phases.
- Manage hardware configuration and maintain its pedigree throughout the entire manufacturing and testing process.
Qualifications:
- 1-5 years of relevant experience, including internships.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment that supports evolving design iterations.
- Strong grasp of engineering principles related to mechanical design and manufacturing.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing systems and methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management capabilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Hands-on experience in hardware manufacturing processes, including but not limited to machining, welding, and testing.
- Demonstrated success in completing manufacturing projects focused on design for manufacturability and cycle time reduction.
- Ability to foster trust and maintain positive professional relationships while enhancing our culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
