Job Summary

The Human Resources Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the HR department, focusing on customer service, record-keeping, and special projects. This role will work closely with HR staff to ensure the smooth operation of HR programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to County staff, citizens, and public officials
  • Respond to routine and sensitive inquiries in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Collaborate with HR staff on departmental assignments, including OSHA reporting, benefit term packets, and employee onboarding
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal communications
  • Manage phone calls, address general inquiries, and process incoming mail
  • Maintain departmental email boxes, calendars, and meeting room schedules
  • Track and order office supplies for HR divisions and County program events
  • Maintain confidentiality in the performance of job duties
  • Contribute to the planning and setup of various departmental meetings and events
  • Provide administrative support to departmental staff on special projects
Requirements
  • High school diploma and four (4) years directly related administrative experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office software required
  • Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) and previous related Human Resources experience with HRIS software desirable
  • Experience working with HR benefits functions and programs, as well as a Virginia Notary Commission, is highly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources administrative best practices
  • Skilled in confidential record handling, problem solving, critical thinking, and administrative environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish positive and collaborative working relationships at all levels of the organization
