Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Virginia Head and Neck Surgeons PC. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our physicians and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and physician assistants in office surgeries, using sterile procedure guidelines to ensure a non-contaminated sterile field.
  • Screen telephone calls for physicians and physician assistants, taking accurate clinical messages within the limits of your knowledge and practice policy.
  • Obtain vital signs, secure complaints, and enter information on patient charts.
  • Assist with maintaining control over hazardous wastes and medical equipment, performing routine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Call in prescriptions for physicians and maintain an adequate supply of preprinted materials.
  • File reports and charts after review by physicians, pulling necessary charts for blood work results and CT scans.
  • Provide excellent patient care, explaining tests and procedures, and informing physicians of delays.
  • Stay late beyond schedule when necessary to ensure smooth patient flow.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of medicine, prescriptions, and dosages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical-related experience preferred.
