Job Summary

This role supports the Course Reserves operation of the Library by assisting in processing materials for students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will provide customer service based on University, Library, and departmental policies and procedures, library systems and their use, and library collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process course reserve requests, including library and faculty-owned materials, and retrieve library materials for placement on course reserve.
  • Respond to departmental inquiries, process applications for library privileges, and process hold/recall transactions.
  • Provide bibliographic assistance, directional/library/campus referral information to users, and train and supervise student workers.
  • Assist with stack maintenance, instruct and assist with equipment use by library patrons, and work on special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and four years of experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Directly related college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Knowledge of automated circulation systems, library policies, services, and general department procedures.
  • Ability to enforce pertinent laws, codes, policies, and rules affecting and protecting the Library and its users.
  • Ability to work collegially in a diverse environment with library staff and the University community.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to communicate effectively with library users.
