Job Summary

Orion Talent is seeking a highly skilled System Testing Analyst Technician to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting capacity tests on batteries for Commercial, Telecom, and Industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct capacity tests on batteries to ensure they meet performance standards.
  • Check conditions, fluid levels, and overall battery voltage using voltmeters and hydrometers.
  • Connect sensing leads to batteries and record cell float voltages.
  • Communicate with customers on necessary connections to equipment.
  • Connect load banks to batteries and apply temperature correction factors.
  • Initiate capacity tests and maintain load at specified levels throughout testing.
  • Test equipment for overheating using thermometers.
  • Reconnect Station Battery to the DC system once testing is complete.
  • Assist customers in adjusting charger current limit and output voltage levels.
  • Verify voltage and polarity with a calibrated digital multimeter prior to making any battery connections.
  • Check for voltage and continuity with a calibrated multimeter prior to making any connections to the load bank(s).
  • Verify whether a system is or is not grounded.
  • Protect cables from pinch points, sharp edges, and short circuits.
  • Safely operate a 20' straight box truck.
  • Properly roll up cables and test leads to prevent damage.
  • Understand the basic theory of capacity testing.
  • Properly use a multimeter and amp clamp.
  • Properly use and select Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Properly connect test equipment and operate the BCT system.
  • Understand parallel series circuits.
  • Understand NPG procedures for testing.
  • Show competency in composing a NPG Test Report.
  • Operate a digital hydrometer.
  • Proficiently work with Word, Excel, Harvard Graphics, Adobe, Outlook, Alber software, BCT, and BA.
  • Safely connect and disconnect a temporary battery system.
  • Perform basic generator P.M's.
  • Perform daily inspection of truck.
  • Have truck P.M's performed according to maintenance schedule.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of technical training and hands-on experience in an electronic/electrical role with the US Navy or Airforce.
  • Experience with UPS/Turbine systems and Telecom is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Oscilloscopes, Multi-meters, Hydrometers, and Computer Skills, software skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Satisfactorily completed a pre-employment assessment, background screening, pre-employment physical, and DOT drug screen (hair follicle).
  • Valid driver's license, insurable driving history, and ability to operate a motor vehicle following all traffic laws and safe, courteous driving habits.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
