To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and NFPA regulations
  • A four-year degree and three+ years of safety management experience
  • Effective communication and detail-oriented skills
  • Ability to think and react quickly in adverse situations
  • Computer literacy and ability to learn new programs

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing information on company safety and compliance programs
  • Serving as a liaison between corporate employees, regional management, company agents, and terminal managers
  • Maintaining contact with owner-operators and company drivers, conducting reviews and providing counseling
  • Analyzing safety statistics to identify problems, trends, and areas for improvement
  • Performing required safety training on aspects such as log preparation, hours of service compliance, vehicle inspection requirements, HAZMAT, load securement, security, and fatigue
  • Completing "walk-around" inspections of vehicles to ensure compliance with FMCSA and state regulations
  • Reviewing logs and documents to determine compliance
  • Responding to accidents and claims situations
  • Traveling as necessary for company safety meetings and audits
