Job Summary

The Housing Support Technician is a critical role within our organization, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our homeless residential programs. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain operational control of the facility, including assisting with coverage on holidays as assigned.
  • Oversee operations at the front desk, including answering phones, providing referrals, and monitoring cameras.
  • Ensure client compliance with Volunteers of America policies and house rules.
  • Maintain chronological written records of events that occur during the shift.
  • Assist with conducting drug screenings and completing initial intake paperwork with new families.
  • Check chores daily and assist with oversight of supplies needed for chores.
  • Ensure the facility is prepared for tours and assist in directing volunteer efforts.
  • Conduct hourly walk-throughs of the facility and its grounds, monitoring clients and accurately documenting events/behaviors.
  • Complete training as assigned and participate in HST team meetings and staff meetings.
  • Monitor all mealtimes, provide transportation as assigned, and monitor the playroom/Children's Learning Lab daily.
  • Observe and report maintenance needs and safety hazards.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; two years post-secondary education preferred.
  • Prior experience in residential homeless (or equivalent) program preferred.
  • Knowledge/experience working with individuals in crisis/low-income preferred.
  • Proficient oral/written/computer skills required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record preferred but not required.
