Job Summary

The Housing Support Technician is a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our homeless residential programs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring the functional operations of our facilities, maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, and providing exceptional support services.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain operational control of the facility, including assisting with coverage on holidays as assigned.
  • Oversee front desk operations, including answering phones, providing referrals, monitoring cameras, and completing telephone intakes.
  • Ensure client compliance with Volunteers of America policies and house rules.
  • Maintain chronological written records of events that occur during the shift.
  • Assist with conducting drug screenings and completing initial intake paperwork with new families.
  • Check chores daily and assist with oversight of supplies needed for chores.
  • Ensure the facility is prepared for tours and assist in directing volunteer efforts.
  • Conduct hourly walk-throughs of the facility and its grounds, monitoring client behavior and completing required documentation.
  • Attend training as assigned and participate in HST team meetings and staff meetings.
  • Monitor mealtimes, assist in the kitchen, and provide transportation and childcare as assigned.
  • Monitor the playroom/Children's Learning Lab daily and provide case management support as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; two years post-secondary education preferred.
  • Prior experience in residential homeless programs or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge/experience working with individuals in crisis/low-income preferred.
  • Proficient oral/written/computer skills required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to be CPR/First Aid certified within 30 days of employment.
