Veterans Eye Assessment Specialist

MRG Exams, a pioneering provider of independent medical assessments, seeks a part-time Optometrist to perform comprehensive eye exams on US Veterans as part of the VA's Standardized Health Assessment (SHA) process.

The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical health records through a secure web portal and conducting thorough eye examinations. They will then complete forms via the web portal based on their findings.

It is essential to note that the Optometrist will not make determinations; instead, the VA will make all decisions. This role is non-treating and focuses solely on providing assessments.

This position is open to qualified individuals who are interested in working as 1099 Independent Contractors.

The schedule for this role will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 8am to 4pm.

To be successful in this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Be interested in performing comprehensive eye exam assessments rather than traditional patient care and treatment.
  • Be able to analyze data from medical records and examination results to complete forms and provide medical opinions.
  • Submit completed forms within 24 hours after an exam.
  • Have a strong desire to serve veterans in their community.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills.

The requirements for this job include:

  • Holding a current license as an Optometrist in the state where exams are performed.
  • Able to perform Visual Field Testing (VFT).

The estimated salary range for this position is approximately $150-$200 per hour, depending on experience and location.
