Position Summary
As a Loss Control Consultant, you will be responsible for conducting thorough evaluations and inspections of properties across multiple sectors, including but not limited to high-rise buildings, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, museums, and healthcare institutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed account reviews for underwriters and engage in meetings with accounts and brokers.
  • Conduct on-site property loss control inspections to assess risk and provide actionable insights.
  • Maintain an organized schedule and produce comprehensive survey reports.
  • Advise underwriting teams on risk quality and insurability matters.
  • Evaluate fire protection systems, building modifications, and fire alarm plans, offering guidance to clients.
  • Keep an updated database of inspection records.
  • Allocate time effectively across various functions: Desktop review and risk selection (40%), On-site surveys and evaluations (40%), Client meetings (10%), General consulting and presentations (10%).
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, with a company vehicle provided.
Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with fire protection systems, process hazards, and property loss control principles is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of loss prevention codes and industry standards (e.g., NFPA, FM, API, ASME) is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with underwriters and managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication, writing, organizational, customer relations, public speaking, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer operations, with knowledge of software such as Word and Excel.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a recognized engineering discipline is required, with a preference for fire protection.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in conducting property loss control inspections for an insurance, consulting, or brokerage firm is preferred.
