Location:

This role is situated within the IT Directorate, specifically in the Accounting Services division, focusing on MOCAS and Multi-Line Support Systems.

Compensation:

Initial salary for first-time federal hires is generally set at step 1 within the applicable grade level.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will utilize various programming languages to develop, adjust, and sustain software solutions for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service. This includes:

  • Designing alterations to internal program structures and determining the precise sequence of operations and program logic.
  • Creating and updating IT documentation, including maintenance manuals and runtime instructions.
  • Contributing to the development and design of operating system architecture, configuration management, and capacity planning.
  • Preparing test data and assisting in the functional testing of software applications.

Basic Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate IT-related experience that reflects the following competencies:
  • Attention to Detail: Experience in reviewing IT-related work for accuracy and consistency.
  • Customer Service: Experience in engaging with customers to provide information about IT products and services.
  • Oral Communication: Experience in updating supervisors and IT staff on the status of systems and projects.
  • Problem Solving: Experience in identifying solutions to routine IT issues using standard resources.

Specialized Experience Requirements:

Depending on the grade level, candidates must have specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, demonstrating the ability to perform relevant duties:

  • GS-7: Assisting senior developers in software analysis, design, coding, and testing.
  • GS-9: Providing input to design specifications and analyzing software requirements.
  • GS-11: Developing and implementing software solutions, conducting system requirement reviews.
  • GS-12: Offering technical guidance on software development and applying complex IT principles.

Education:

Educational qualifications may substitute for experience at certain grade levels, but not at GS-12.
