Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cobb-Vantress Laying House Caretaker to join our team at Tyson Foods Inc. This role is responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our laying hens, as well as maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend to the daily needs of the hens, including providing adequate feed, water, and ventilation.
  • Inspect eggs for quality and fitness for incubation, and maintain accurate records.
  • Clean and disinfect waterers, change and clean nest pads, and perform other routine housekeeping duties.
  • Collect and handle eggs, observing and recording egg quality, and distributing or disposing of them according to Cobb standards.
  • Monitor the flock for diseases and remove weak, ill, or dead poultry, and record the number of floor eggs and work to eliminate them by training hens to use nests.
  • Properly euthanize weak or ill birds in accordance with company policy, and perform minor maintenance tasks.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in agricultural or production settings preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 58 pounds, and stand for long periods of time.

Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a biosecure environment, requiring showering, changing clothing, and footwear before entering the facility. The job site is located at EagleGrove Farm, Hartwell, GA, and the work schedule is four days on and two days off, including holidays and weekends.

The physical demands of the job include regular stooping, bending, and lifting, as well as working in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy, and cold environments. Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, and a respirator, will be provided and required.
