Job Summary:

This role involves attending to and caring for birds in brooding/growing houses, inspecting birds to determine quality and progress. Essential duties and responsibilities include:


  • Handling pullets and male birds, assisting with vaccinations, and administering medications as needed
  • Feeding and watering birds according to schedules, inspecting water lines, and disposing of mortality
  • Applying insecticides, herbicides, and rodenticides
  • Recording feed and mortality daily
  • Cleaning and disinfecting equipment
  • Collecting weekly lab samples
  • Inspecting birds to determine quality and progress

Work Environment:

The jobsite is a biosecure environment, requiring showering, changing clothing, and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the company. Team members are expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective Equipment. Team members are also expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety-related risks.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This role requires standing and walking for the majority of the shift on multiple floor surfaces, sitting, using hands to handle or feel objects and controls, reaching with hands and arms, balancing, climbing/ladder usage, talking or hearing, stooping/bending up to 300 times per day, and driving a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Team members are required to work in extreme hot conditions for two to three weeks at the placement of baby chicks.
