POSITION SUMMARY

As a Tax Manager at The Ladders, you will play a crucial role in supervising and directing our tax compliance and advisory services for a diverse clientele. Your responsibilities will revolve around three core areas: Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead teams in the preparation of tax returns of varying complexities, dedicating approximately 35% of your time to detailed reviews and analyses.
  • Manage and mentor one or more tax department staff members, providing timely performance feedback and supporting their professional development.
  • Facilitate training and development for team members across various functions, dedicating 10-20% of your time to this effort.
  • Address multiple complex issues while effectively communicating with clients and the service team to manage risks for both parties.
  • Assist clients in estimating and projecting tax liabilities for financial planning, making recommendations for tax optimization.
  • Act as the primary tax client service coordinator for designated clients.
  • Provide comprehensive advice on corporate tax services, including planning, research, and compliance.
  • Review research findings to ensure alignment with firm policies and professional standards.
  • Stay informed on current tax practices and legislative changes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience

BA/BS Degree in accounting or a related field

CPA, JD, LLM, or EA certification

A minimum of five years of experience in public accounting.

Proficient in collaborating with clients to address inquiries and gather necessary information for tax services.

Experience with S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, or individual taxation is preferred.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with tax codes and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance.

Strong technical capabilities in accounting and tax preparation.

Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Experience with ASC 740 accounting for income taxes is advantageous.

Experience in international tax matters is a plus.

Technical Skills

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office. Demonstrates a working knowledge of the necessary technology tools for assigned responsibilities. Strong organizational and time management skills are required.

Language Skills

Proficient in English reading, writing, and verbal communication. Ability to interpret instructions and convey details effectively.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense to execute detailed instructions.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role require the ability to perform essential functions effectively.
