Job Summary

MindWorks Collaborative is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Specialist to join our team. As a Special Education Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring their access to education and supporting their academic and social-emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess students' needs and develop individualized education plans
  • Provide direct instruction in various subject areas, including braille literacy, orientation and mobility, technology, and adaptive skills
  • Work closely with students, their families, and the school staff to ensure a collaborative and inclusive learning environment
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans
  • Utilize assistive technologies to support students with visual impairments

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Special Education Specialist or a similar role (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of visual impairments and their impact on learning and development
  • Familiarity with braille (preferred)
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies used by students with visual impairments
  • Ability to conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability in adjusting instructional techniques to meet individual student needs
  • Valid certification as a Special Education Specialist
  • Bachelor's Degree
