Educator for Students with Hearing Impairments

We are in search of a dedicated and skilled Educator for Students with Hearing Impairments to become a vital part of our educational team. This role focuses on delivering specialized educational services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they receive a tailored learning experience that meets their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute personalized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the academic, communication, and social-emotional development of students with hearing challenges.
- Modify and adapt teaching materials and methods to accommodate the varied learning styles of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Provide direct instruction in critical areas such as language acquisition, speech reading, auditory training, and sign language.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote the inclusion of students with hearing impairments in mainstream classrooms.
- Conduct evaluations and utilize data to track student progress, refine teaching strategies, and communicate outcomes to relevant parties.
- Engage with families to offer support, resources, and guidance, fostering a collaborative educational environment.
- Effectively employ assistive technologies and hearing devices to enhance communication and learning opportunities for students.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education with a concentration in Deaf Education, or a related discipline.
- Possession of a valid teaching license or certification in Deaf Education, or the capability to secure state certification.
- Prior experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students is preferred.
- Familiarity with various communication methods and strategies for engaging students with hearing impairments (e.g., American Sign Language, auditory-verbal techniques, cued speech).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and community stakeholders.
