Job Summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in Elk Mills, Maryland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team in implementing skilled nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Perform assigned procedures for patient comfort and well-being, demonstrating a concern for safety.
  • Assist in updating physician reference sheets and participate in nursing care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, employees, and physicians, utilizing written and verbal communication skills.
  • Respond to crisis situations, initiate interventions within scope of responsibility, and notify RN as needed.
  • Maintain required credentials, including BCLS and mandatory inservice patients.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited, approved surgical technologist program with clinical hours completed.
  • BLS Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification by an approved certification body, such as the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) and/or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (CST).
  • 1 year of experience in a surgical setting.
