POSITION OVERVIEW

The Healthcare Support Specialist is responsible for executing both administrative and specific clinical tasks under the supervision of a healthcare provider. Administrative responsibilities may encompass scheduling patient appointments, managing medical records, and processing billing and coding information for insurance claims. Clinical responsibilities might involve measuring and documenting vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, drawing blood samples, and administering medications as instructed by the healthcare provider.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Candidates must fulfill current eligibility requirements to take the certification exam and achieve certification or registration through one of the approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90 days of employment; OR
  • Must possess active certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the recognized agencies for Medical Assistant certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program is preferred.
  • Previous experience in an outpatient setting is advantageous.
