POSITION OVERVIEW

The Healthcare Support Specialist is responsible for executing both administrative and specific clinical tasks under the supervision of a healthcare provider. Key administrative responsibilities encompass scheduling patient appointments, managing medical records, and processing billing and coding information for insurance claims. Clinical responsibilities may involve measuring and documenting vital signs, collecting medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, drawing blood samples, and administering medications as directed by the healthcare provider.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Candidates must fulfill current eligibility requirements to sit for the certification exam, achieving certification or registration through one of the approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90 days of employment; OR
  • Active certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through an approved agency is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program is preferred.
  • Previous experience in an outpatient setting is advantageous.
