About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automation Director to join our Engineering organization. As a key member of our team, you will provide leadership and expertise to enhance our organizational capability through training, mentorship, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement information and operations technology systems, including network infrastructure, controls, and automation systems.
  • Provide leadership in knowledge transfer and implementation of approved standards and practices for IT/OT systems.
  • Lead project management support, including requirements gathering, project development, vendor management, proposal development, and review.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, IT, Operations, Safety, and Corporate management to facilitate and support manufacturing process and control systems.
  • Provide leadership and management of staff, including supervision, performance management, career development, and personnel-related functions.
  • Support the Automation Managers at each location in identifying and justifying automation and electrical scope for projects.
  • Produce reliable automation solutions to meet business needs, including electrical panel design, device selection, flow charts, project schedules, scope of work, and cost estimates.
  • Assist the data and analytics team in producing energy and production reports using Ignition and Wonderware Historian.
  • Support the Automation teams with process for redundancy and maintenance of all plant OT databases.
  • Support our OT Cyber security initiatives and drive new processes across each plant location.
  • Bring continuity across all automation departments with technology, process, and systems.
  • Support all Automation-related programs and documentation, including PLC programs, HMI programs, and electrical ladder diagrams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering fields, or applicable experience.
  • Proven experience of 10+ years in a leadership role overseeing automation and controls engineering within a large organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC system design and programming, specifically focused on Rockwell PLC.
  • Advanced knowledge of HMI systems, focused on Ignition Vision systems and Perspective HMI, Rockwell Factory Talk View ME/SE.
  • Experience with Inductive Automation's Ignition Software is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to create and present reports using Wonderware Historian.
  • Understanding of Energy management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ethernet networks.
  • Advanced electrical control design capabilities.
  • Broad knowledge of automation and electrical devices, instrumentation, and equipment.
  • Ability to connect to and interact with OPC interfaces and history of connecting to many different networks within an OT environment.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in automation tools and technologies, such as RPA, AI/ML, workflow automation, etc.
  • Ability to produce or history of reviewing electrical diagrams, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, using Autocad and Microsoft Visio.
  • Highly effective team member who can work collaboratively, support a shared vision, energize others, challenge the status quo, and drive change.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities to effectively develop team members and share knowledge.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks given time constraints and ensure tasks are executed completely.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, and team leadership.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements, cost savings, and operational efficiencies through automation.
