In this role, you will guide, establish the direction, and drive outcomes in a soy protein production facility. You will oversee the production team to meet quality, capacity, and cost enhancement objectives. This is a prime opportunity for an aspiring leader to gain valuable experience in managing a production unit. You will lead small teams and engage in cross-functional collaboration.

The Production Engineer / Production Area Engineer leverages a comprehensive understanding of unit operations to provide analysis, offer guidance, plan, compile data, and collaborate with others to fulfill daily production targets.

This position entails assessing the quality, reliability, and capability of the processes, making informed decisions with team members to pause or adjust production as necessary to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

The successful candidate must effectively interact with plant personnel at all levels to influence desired outcomes and cultivate an environment of collaboration, camaraderie, and commitment.


Key Responsibilities:
Oversee production unit activities to ensure adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards.
Drive initiatives for Quality / Food Safety, Production, and Cost Improvement.

Provide technical assistance for specific manufacturing units, including performance metrics monitoring, OEE data analysis, troubleshooting, and investigating product quality concerns.

Manage unit Process Safety Management (PSM) components, including Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
Lead safety initiatives and continuously enhance the safety culture.
Offer subject matter expertise and process knowledge to all functions (e.g., Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, etc.).

Coordinate maintenance activities within the unit utilizing the Work Management Process (WMP) in collaboration with the Maintenance Coordinator and staff.

Provide expertise during plant start-ups and shutdowns.

Establish effective communication systems throughout the unit, focusing on information sharing and engaging employees in the facility's success.

Perform job responsibilities in alignment with food safety and quality protocols, including HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, Sanitation, and Pest Control.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with over 5 years of experience in an industrial or process engineering environment. Proven ability to collect and analyze data, identify solutions, assess risks, and make sound production decisions. Familiarity with Process Safety Management practices, including MOC and PSSR, and a commitment to strong safety standards. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft applications.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of solids drying technologies, wastewater pH control, and wastewater solids processing.
Experience in capital project management.
Familiarity with environmental regulatory reporting.
Understanding of Work Management Process and maintenance best practices.
Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
Ability to utilize key computer-based tools such as SAP, SharePoint, ETQ Reliance, and Lotus Notes.
Six Sigma Certification.

Preferred:
Over 7 years of experience in a food manufacturing or chemical environment. A degree in Chemical Engineering is strongly preferred. A desire to grow and lead in a plant setting.
