Position Overview

The Parking and Transit Services department is in search of a dedicated Parking Operations Support Specialist to oversee a bustling parking facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring exceptional service delivery to faculty, staff, students, and visitors, while maintaining the functionality of parking equipment such as entry systems, ticket dispensers, and communication devices. The Specialist will also provide essential campus information and assist with parking inquiries. Please note that this position requires outdoor work throughout the entire shift.

Work Schedule
This role operates Monday through Friday, with shifts from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Flexibility in hours may be required based on operational needs and special events.

Work Environment
  • Operate university vehicles or carts safely, frequently entering and exiting the vehicle.
  • Must maintain a valid US Driver's license appropriate for the role.
  • Work outdoors, standing and walking for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Engage in physical activities including bending, lifting, and pushing up to 35 pounds.
  • Utilize a two-way radio for communication.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and resolve conflicts as they arise.
  • Occasionally work in an office setting, involving prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Work areas may vary based on operational requirements.
  • Communicate effectively to fulfill essential job functions.
  • Be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions.
Background Check Requirement
All candidates will undergo a pre-employment screening, including a criminal background check and verification of work history and credentials. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of this process.

Qualifications
Minimum of one to two years of customer service experience in a direct service role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge.

The Parking and Transit Services department plays a crucial role in supporting the university's development by managing parking and transportation options across multiple campuses. With a commitment to promoting environmentally friendly transportation, PTS offers various programs to assist the university community in navigating campus effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with credit card transactions in a high-volume retail setting.
  • Two years of experience in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Familiarity with parking operations in a university or municipal context.
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical equipment maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in customer service interactions with the public.
  • Attention to detail and experience in record-keeping.
  • Experience working outdoors.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist customers with parking equipment and payment options.
  • Provide a high level of customer service, greeting and assisting patrons.
  • Maintain accurate activity logs and report any maintenance issues.
  • Respond to intercom calls and provide information to guests.
  • Perform minor cleaning and maintenance of parking equipment.
  • Manage traffic flow during peak times to ensure efficient operations.
  • Monitor parking space availability and assist with event accommodations.
  • Drive university vehicles to various locations as needed.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence as required.
  • Complete necessary forms and documentation.
