Job Summary

Burnett Specialists Staffing | Recruiting is seeking a highly skilled Intellectual Property Legal Support Specialist to join their team. As an IP Legal Support Specialist, you will provide exceptional legal secretarial support to attorneys and patent agents, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and patent agents, including creating shells for Office Action responses and preparing electronic filings.
  • Assist with submissions and documents as required by the USPTO, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Review timekeeper docket reports and maintain docket notes to keep IP timekeepers informed of upcoming deadlines and status.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and the USPTO, ensuring prompt responses to inquiries and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Research, generate, and update case status reports and IP schedules for clients, attorneys, and other IP timekeepers.
  • Access and research patent databases to provide accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Manage new matters, review and edit client bills, screen calls and emails, process expense reports, submit check requests, process invoices, and maintain electronic files.
  • Provide secretarial coverage when IP legal secretaries are unexpectedly out or on vacation.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of legal secretarial experience in patent prosecution, with in-depth knowledge of USPTO rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rules and regulations, as well as filing procedures for all aspects of U.S. patent prosecution and international prosecution.
  • Advanced-level MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat skills required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
