Position Overview:
We are in search of a Head of Fraud Prevention and Operations to join our Centralized Operations Group. This role will spearhead the strategic framework for fraud detection, prevention, and resolution at East West Bank. Key responsibilities include implementing the bank's strategic objectives, meeting risk appetite goals, and managing the first line of fraud risk management. This encompasses generating high-risk fraud alerts, investigating suspicious activities, and recovering confirmed fraudulent items. Collaboration with various departments is essential to minimize and mitigate fraud risks for both the bank and our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fraud Risk Management Program:
- Establish and maintain effective fraud management controls and monitoring processes.
- Conduct thorough fraud risk assessments and implement preventive measures.
- Develop action plans to address vulnerabilities and reduce fraud risks.
- Provide subject matter expertise for new product launches and operational functions.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging threats.
- Reduce fraud losses through proactive prevention and detection strategies.
- Oversee training programs for staff and clients on fraud prevention.
- Collaborate with the BSA team to vet suspicious applications.
- Utilize industry contacts for benchmarking and investigation support.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure performance standards are met.
- Fraud Operations and Investigations:
- Lead fraud operations to effectively mitigate losses.
- Initiate investigations with clear milestones and reporting to stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of fraud investigations and reporting.
- Provide briefings to internal partners on investigation findings.
- Conduct ongoing fraud risk assessments within operational units.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all fraud-related activities.
- Support internal investigations as required.
- Fraud Strategy and Analytics:
- Collaborate with the second line of defense on data analysis to identify trends.
- Utilize fraud strategists to respond to real-time events effectively.
- Ensure robust measurement controls for all fraud monitoring strategies.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fraud professionals.
- Ensure team members are well-versed in fraud-related matters.
- Provide training and coaching as necessary.
- Develop a support structure with teams in Asia.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- 7+ years of banking experience, particularly in fraud operations within retail banking.
- 7+ years of leadership experience is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws regarding bank fraud.
- Strong understanding of banking products, services, and transaction types.
- Familiarity with automated fraud monitoring systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is strongly preferred.
Compensation:
