About the Automation Engineer Role

KLM Careers is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team. As an Automation Engineer, you will work closely with our Engineered-to-Order (ETO) and Modernization teams to deliver tailored software and hardware solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customize crane controls using existing software modules to meet customer requirements.
  • Support factory acceptance, commissioning, and lifecycle of material handling equipment to ensure seamless operations.
  • Modify PLC software to meet customer needs and resolve control/software issues through collaboration with engineers and service technicians.
  • Monitor and develop replacements for obsolete automation equipment to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting and commissioning as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Software, Electrical, or Automation Engineering.
  • Previous experience working in the Manufacturing Industry.
  • Previous experience working with Siemens PLC and HMI programming.
  • Previous experience as an Automation Engineer.
  • Knowledge of variable frequency drives and control systems for material handling devices.
  • Familiarity with NEC electrical code and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
