We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at Sovah Health - Martinsville as an Employee Health Nurse. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities- Provide and promote employee health programs to employees, physicians, volunteers, and students.
- Support the workers' compensation program and OSHA log for Sovah Health - Martinsville.
- Conduct pre-employment and annual health screening tests for all employees.
- Screen employees who become ill or injured on the job and make appropriate referrals for further treatment when necessary.
- Monitor, treat, and counsel employees exposed to communicable diseases based on protocols.
- Administer medications according to standing and/or written orders.
- Document and maintain accurate and current employee health records.
- Stay up-to-date with current theory and practice of nursing.
- Participate in educational seminars and courses related to employee health issues.
- Participate on the hospital Infection Control Committee and Safety Committee.
- Compile monthly and quarterly reports for quality assurance and corporate requirements.
- Act as the HR contact for the student intern/shadowing program.
- Maintain and post OSHA logs.
- Report all referred employee injuries to the insurance carrier.
- Maintain accurate records for Workers Compensation claims.
- Make follow-up contacts with carrier representatives, medical caretakers, and employees.
- Work cooperatively with Hospitals WC carrier representatives and medical caregivers to facilitate and expedite the employees' return to work.
- Arrange for and monitor all temporary light-duty assignments.
- Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State required.
- Minimum of three years' experience in nursing required. Experience in employee health, occupational health preferred.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work guided by protocols under the guidance of the Medical Director and RN Manager.
- Ability to work under stress; maintain emotional control. Demonstrates ethical and professional behavioral characteristics and attitude.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required.
