Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Employee Health team at Sovah Health - Martinsville. As an Employee Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting employee health and well-being, while also supporting the workers' compensation program and OSHA log.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-employment and annual health screening tests for all employees
  • Screen employees who become ill or injured on the job and make appropriate referrals for further treatment
  • Monitor, treat, and counsel employees exposed to communicable diseases based on protocols
  • Administer medications according to standing and/or written orders
  • Document and maintain accurate and current employee health records
  • Stay up-to-date with current theory and practice of nursing
  • Participate in educational seminars and courses related to employee health issues
  • Collaborate with the hospital's Infection Control Committee and Safety Committee
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports for quality assurance and corporate requirements
  • Serve as the HR contact for the student intern/shadowing program
  • Maintain and post OSHA logs
  • Report all referred employee injuries to the insurance carrier
  • Maintain accurate records for Workers Compensation claims
  • Facilitate communication with carrier representatives, medical caregivers, and employees to expedite return-to-work
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State required
  • Minimum of three years' experience in nursing required; experience in employee health, occupational health preferred
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work guided by protocols under the guidance of the Medical Director and RN Manager
  • Ability to work under stress, maintain emotional control, and demonstrate ethical and professional behavioral characteristics and attitude
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required
