Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Employee Health department, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our employees. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our team members and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement employee health programs to promote a healthy work environment
  • Conduct pre-employment and annual health screening tests for all employees
  • Screen employees who become ill or injured on the job and make appropriate referrals for further treatment
  • Monitor, treat, and counsel employees exposed to communicable diseases based on protocols
  • Administer medications according to standing and/or written orders
  • Document and maintain accurate and current employee health records
  • Stay up-to-date with current theory and practice of nursing and attend educational seminars and courses related to employee health issues
  • Participate on the hospital's Infection Control Committee and Safety Committee
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports for quality assurance and corporate requirements
  • Act as the HR contact for the student intern/shadowing program
  • Maintain and post OSHA logs and report all referred employee injuries to the Insurance Carrier
  • Maintain accurate records for Workers' Compensation claims and make follow-up contacts with Carrier representatives, medical caretakers, and employees
  • Work cooperatively with the Hospital's WC carrier representatives and medical caregivers to facilitate and expedite the employee's return to work
  • Arrange for and monitor all temporary light-duty assignments

Requirements
  • Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State required
  • Minimum of three years' experience in nursing required; experience in employee health, occupational health preferred
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work guided by protocols under the guidance of the Medical Director and RN Manager
  • Ability to work under stress; maintain emotional control; demonstrates ethical and professional behavioral characteristics and attitude
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required
