Position Overview: The Financial Grants Specialist plays a vital role in overseeing the financial management and budgetary compliance of grant funding. This position is essential for ensuring accuracy, timely reporting, and adherence to regulatory requirements while fostering collaboration across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze grant agreements and contracts to ascertain compliance obligations and necessary reporting.
  • Work closely with the Development Team to guide Program Directors in understanding and fulfilling funders' stipulations.
  • Assist in establishing systems for restricted coding and compliance controls, including data collection and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct fiscal oversight of subawards and partner contracts.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports related to grants, ensuring all revenue is accurately recorded in the financial management system.
  • Monitor outstanding grant receivables and reconcile grant activities with donor and client databases.
  • Engage in discussions regarding grant progress and address any challenges or inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Development and Program teams to prepare budgets for individual grants.
  • Review expenditures to ensure compliance with donor regulations.
  • Support Program teams in budget monitoring and adjusting expenditures as necessary.
  • Examine monthly grant transactions for any disallowed expenses and reallocate as needed.
  • Coordinate grant-related audit processes, including compliance with federal and local regulations.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at promoting racial equity and creating inclusive environments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting for grants, particularly with government funding.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal grant sources and regulations.
  • Proficient in financial management systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Commitment to the mission of empowering marginalized communities.

Work Environment: This position may require flexibility in hours, including evenings and weekends, and involves a hybrid work model. The role necessitates travel between various program sites as needed.
