The role of a Flight Instructor encompasses the delivery of high-quality, professional flight training within a CFR 141 framework, utilizing a comprehensive training syllabus. Instructors are tasked with teaching various flight-related subjects, including private, instrument, commercial, and multi-engine courses, as well as CFI/CFII ground schools and aviation safety. The instructor is accountable for ensuring the safe operation of aircraft during instructional flights, assessing student proficiency, and providing feedback to the Assistant Chief Instructor regarding student progress. Confidential information pertaining to students, colleagues, or the institution must be handled with discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit the necessary piloting and interpersonal skills to effectively educate students.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to student pilots.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and cognitive abilities.
  • Comprehend and interpret instructions and information in English.
  • Communicate new concepts clearly to students and devise methods to ensure understanding.
  • Maintain a valid FAA 1st or 2nd class medical certification and uphold the required physical condition for instructional duties.
  • Achieve an 80% student pass rate on first attempts and an 80% completion rate each semester.
  • Successfully complete standardization and proficiency evaluations throughout employment; undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisory staff.
Qualifications:
  • CFI position: Must hold CFI certification and obtain CFII within 60 days of employment.
  • CFII position: Requires CFI and CFII certifications.
  • MEI position: Must possess CFI, CFII, and MEI certifications.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent credits from an accredited institution.
  • Participation in the Federal Aviation Authority Safety Team.
  • Involvement in Civil Air Patrol.
  • Engagement in National Intercollegiate Flight Association (NIFA) competitions.
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a results-oriented and self-motivated work ethic.
