Position Overview
This role is designed as a mentorship opportunity aimed at providing immediate assistance to engineering personnel while fostering the long-term growth of exceptional engineering talent.
Project Involvement (may include but are not limited to):
- Basic drafting skills and techniques.
- Supporting engineers or senior technicians in the creation and upkeep of project documentation from design through to construction.
- Engaging in various routine tasks to gain practical experience with engineering methodologies and practices, including engineering calculations, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, CAD, and project specification review and development.
- Assignments are tailored to promote educational challenges, professional development, and the achievement of ongoing project goals and milestones.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The perfect candidate is an engineering student in their third year or higher, showcasing strong potential to evolve into an outstanding engineer. Key success factors include:
- Strong academic performance.
- Proven aptitude in engineering, emphasizing both practical and theoretical aspects.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal drive.
- Evidence of high potential for exceptional accomplishments.
Educational and Technical Requirements:
- Current Bachelor's or Master's level student majoring in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Familiarity with MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Exposure to and working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive client information.
- Strong command of English, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Self-motivated, diligent, and eager to learn.
- Effective listening abilities.
Experience Requirements:
Some relevant experience that demonstrates a propensity for excellence through leadership, initiative, achievements, and teamwork.
Licensure:
- Valid driver's license and maintenance of a satisfactory driving record.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) status is preferred for final year Bachelor's and Master's students.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not entail any supervisory responsibilities.
Telecommuting:
Due to the collaborative nature of this role and the need for in-house client meetings, it is essential for this position to be performed on-site.
Work Environment:
The work typically occurs in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting, with occasional site visits in outdoor environments. Evening and weekend work is generally not required but may be necessary on short notice.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. The employee frequently sits for extended periods and occasionally stands, walks, uses hands for various tasks, reaches, climbs, or balances, and may need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to forty (40) pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Tool/Personal Protective Equipment Requirements:
As per client site protocols, candidates will be required to use appropriate personal protective equipment, including but not limited to gloves, sleeves, hard hats, safety vests, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
