About the Role

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Medical Interpreter to join our team. As a Medical Interpreter, you will play a critical role in facilitating communication between healthcare providers and patients with limited English proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation services to patients and families
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure effective communication and patient care
  • Develop and maintain relationships with patients and families to provide personalized support
  • Stay up-to-date with medical terminology and cultural competency to provide high-quality interpretation services
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (or other languages as required)
  • Completed accredited medical interpreter training
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of college experience preferred
  • Experience interpreting in a healthcare or human service organization
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and age groups
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
