Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for middle school students
  • Conduct and direct the middle school band, ensuring high-quality performances and student growth
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students, addressing their unique needs and abilities
  • Collaborate with other music teachers and staff to develop and implement music programs and events
  • Supervise and mentor student teachers and volunteers
  • Manage the middle school band budget and resources, ensuring efficient use of funds and materials
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, providing regular updates and progress reports
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills and stay current with best practices in music education
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
  • Experience in leading a middle school band program, preferably in a public school setting
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and pedagogy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
