Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will provide direct services to meet the health and safety needs of students and staff under the supervision of the RN school nurse and the Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily care of students with medical needs in the school setting
  • Administer medications as ordered by a physician
  • Maintain accurate and current health records on each student
  • Assist in the development of Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs)
  • Perform screening procedures as required by Texas law
  • Identify health problems and refer students for further evaluation as necessary
Requirements:
  • Valid Texas Vocational Nurses License issued by the Texas Board of Nursing
  • High School diploma and graduation from an accredited Vocational Nurse Training Program
  • AED/CPR certification
  • Two or more years' experience in community health, pediatric nursing, or nursing with contact with school-age children preferred
Working Conditions:
  • Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension
  • Frequent light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); may require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and position of students with physical disabilities
